Which English test scores are accepted?

English competencies

The certificate for English level is compulsory.

We advise the students to register for the English Test early in order to have the results before the application deadline.

All non-native speakers must demonstrate their English proficiency e.g. with a test result in the International English Testing System (IELTS) or TOEFL test.

Proof of good English competencies, e.g. TOEFL CBT 230 and PBT 550 IBT 80 / IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, except for applicants native from English speaking countries and for students having been educated in English at secondary or/and university. Students who intend to have a mobility at TUM must have following level for admission at TUM : TOEFL IBT 88, CBT 234/ PBT 605.

In case the students education was in English, please provide instead of the IELTS or TOEFL a certificate from your University stating that your lectures were in English.

In case the student had a study period mobility at an English speaking University, please also add a certificate that the medium of instruction was English

Joint Master Program MaMaSELF

Deadlines

The scholarship deadline for Non-European students is 5 February 2025.
The scholarship deadline for European students is 20 March 2025.
All students can apply until 15th May 2025, without scholarship.

The application will be evaluated in February for non-EU students.
The results will be given first week of March for non-EU applicants, and first week of April for EU students.

A student can apply maximum 3 times for Master MaMaSELF. After 3 applications to the Master, the next application will not be considered.

For this application a Bachelor in science is compulsory: Bachelor in Materials science, or in Physics or in Chemistry or Geoscience or related disciplines.(Bachelor s in Mechanical engineering are not adapted to the MaMaSELF. program).

Correspondance

For all correspondance by e-mail, please indicate your name, first name and your nationality as well as your Application ID number. The Application ID number is compulsory in order to avoid confusions.
When you write an email, please use the same e-mail adress that you have used for the application site.

Results

The results will be published on the application site by mid March 2025

Status

Your status will be published on the application site, you can see your result online : https://application.mamaself.eu

Accepted Mainlist: the student is selected for the program with a scholarship.

Accepted: the student is selected for the program, but is not on the mainlist for the grant yet. The student with status « accepted » is on the reserve list for the scholarship. He / she can eventually access to the mainlist for the grant later on. The student is fully accepted and can join the Master without grant.

Non-selected: the student has not been selected in the 2025 MaMaSELF. selection.
